Modelling wheat behaviour under different population densities using the stochastic GreenLab model
نویسندگان
چکیده
Introduction Plant architecture is determined by both the genetic basis of the plant (e.g. Wang and Li, 2006) and the effects of environmental factors (e.g. Evers et al., 2006). It can be described in terms of the dynamics of buds, with the fate of buds depending on their relative positions in space and time (Buck-Sorlin and Bell, 2000). The variation in architecture is obvious in wheat plants (Triticum aestivum L.), especially regarding the degree of tillering and consequently yield per plant (Darwinkel, 1978). Deterministic functional-structural plant models (FSPMs) are limited in the simulation of plasticity in development in terms of bud behaviour. In the current study, the difference and statistical similarity of individual wheat architectures are taken into account in the context of the function-structural model GreenLab. The aim of this paper is to simulate the stochastic development and mean production of wheat plants grown with different population densities, based on calibration of a stochastic GreenLab model. The results are validated with independent data.

A Functional-Structural Plant Model--Theory and Applications in Agronomy
Functional-structural plant models (FSPM) simulate plant development and growth, usually accompanied with visualization of the plant 3D architecture. GreenLab is a generic and mechanistic FSPM: various botanical architectures can be produced by its organogenesis model, and the plant growth is governed by the competition on biomass among growing organs. A distinguished feature of GreenLab model ...

This paper aims to study the mechanical behaviour and failure mechanism of intact rocks under different loading conditions using the grain based model implemented in the universal distinct element code (UDEC). The grain based numerical model is a powerful tool to investigate complicated micro-structural mechanical behaviour of rocks. In the UDEC grain based model, the intact material is simulat...
متن کاملModelling of Stress-Strain Behaviour of Clayey Soils Using Artificial Neural Network
In this research, behaviour of clayey soils under triaxial loading is studied using Neural Network. The models have been prepared to predict the stress-strain behaviour of remolded clays under undrained condition. The advantage of the model developed is that simple parameters such as physical characteristics of soils like water content, fine content, Atterberg limits and so on, are used to mode...

متن کاملThe derivation of sink functions of wheat organs using the GREENLAB model.
BACKGROUND AND AIMS In traditional crop growth models assimilate production and partitioning are described with empirical equations. In the GREENLAB functional-structural model, however, allocation of carbon to different kinds of organs depends on the number and relative sink strengths of growing organs present in the crop architecture. The aim of this study is to generate sink functions of whe...
